Modern Times

Hey I saw Charlie Chaplin's modern times yesterday,( Yeah I know I haven't yet started studying yet but I am trying, I even have all the books lined up in front of me, So the moment I decide to study, BOOM there is it, all my books right up there waiting for me), but until then, I shall see Charlie Chaplin movies

I don't know why I suddenly started liking Charlie Chaplin movies again ( the last I saw one was when I was roughly 11 yrs old when my school had bought a new color TV (that was state of art technology then) on which they showed Charlie Chaplin movies to us). It was great fun then, It is still great fun now ( Ironically after so many years also, I am still going to a school (only this time its a B school, Don't remember what they used call the first one as, Maybe an A school or something. Yeah wait I remember now, it was called "sbo-A" school - Ok I was exaggerating this a bit- So) but guess what I am still laughing at those Charlie Chaplin movies.

Infact my sudden interest in chaplin was because, The other day we actually had a class for us where they showed Chaplin movies ( The intensions are different but, my Managerial Comm. Prof uses his movies to teach us Body Language, Its about how CC ( yeah that's Charlie Chaplin - Don't expect me to use the full words all the time, I am a computer guy, we abbreviate everything - GFYIYDT), anyway he was teaching us as to how CC, without even uttering a word, was able to communicate a whole range of Human emotions. you would see everything in his movies, from anger to love, from laughter to sadness just through his facial expressions and body language. A Great Actor he is.

Ok to end, now that we were discussing CC, let me tell you some trivial things about CC before we close for the day

  • CC's first full length film was called " The Kid"
  • CC had a total of five wives and had fifteen children in all. (Man talk about legacy)
  • On an average, he always married women aged 16-17 ( irrespective of whatever age he was in), His last wife was 17, when he married her, at his age of 54
  • Was 73 years old when his youngest son, Christopher, was born.
  • Ranked #79 in Empire (UK) magazine's "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" list.
  • On 3 March 1978 his dead body was stolen from the Corsier-Sur-Vevey cemetery. It took until 18 days before the police found it.
  • A much-repeated story claims that he once entered a Charlie Chaplin-look-a-like-contest and finished third! In some versions of the story, he came in second.

  • Now for the best part, Although Adolf Hitler was not at all a fan, he was aware of how beloved Charlie was throughout the world at that time, and that was the reason he grew the Chaplin moustache: he thought it would endear him to the people. (Source: The Tramp and the Dictator)

Ok until we meet again, cya…
